Congratulations to Boston College senior running back Andre Williams, who has been named to the Doak Walker Award Preseason Watch List. The Doak Walker Award is given annually to the nation's top college running back. The news brings the total number of Eagles named to preseason watch lists to six.
Williams, a 6-foot, 227-pound running back from Schnecksville, Pa., is set to become the Eagles' feature back in a run-heavy offense. All told, Williams has played in 34 career games, carrying the ball 349 times for 1,577 yards (4.5 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. Last season, Williams led the team with 599 yards and four touchdowns, including a career-high 196-yard performance on the ground in the road non-conference game that will go unmentioned in this space.
The semifinalists for the Doak Walker will be named on November 14 and the finalists on November 25. The winner of the 2013 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on ESPN's College Football Awards show on Thursday, December 12.
Congrats to Andre on being honored.
