Congratulations to former Boston College guard Tyrese Rice, who signed a deal to play for Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv of the Euroleague, the highest tier of professional basketball in Europe. Rice inks a two-year deal with one of the top clubs in Israel.
"We are very pleased that Tyrese has joined our team," Maccabi head coach David Blatt said. "He is a creative guard with great driving skills. He likes fast, attractive basketball and brings a lot of passion to the court."
The 6-foot-1, 190 pound guard from Richmond comes to Maccabi from Bayern Munich, where he ranked third in the league in scoring (15.8 points) and second in assists (4.4) over 40 games last season. Since going undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft, Rice has kicked around Europe playing for Bayern Munich, Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania and Panionious of Greece. He'll be making his Euroleague debut with Maccabi.
Rice joins fellow Americans Ricky Hickman (UNC Greensboro), Sylven Landesberg (Virginia), Shawn James (Duquesne), Devin Smith (Virginia) and Alex Tyus (Florida) and on Maccabi's 2013-14 roster.
