Boston College Football's Nate Freese Named To 2013 Lou Groza Award Watch List

Congratulations to Boston College senior Nate Freese, named to the 30-player watch list for the 2013 Lou Groza Award, according to an announcement made by the Palm Beach Sports Commission on Wednesday.

-- As a junior last fall, Freese finished the season ranked sixth among all kickers in Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football in field goal percentage having connected on 18-of-20 attempts (.900).
-- One of the most accurate place-kickers in school history, Freese leads the ACC and ranks fifth among all place-kickers in FBS in active career field goal percentage (.820).
-- Freese has connected on 50-of-61 career field-goal attempts and 74-fo-76 extra points in his first three seasons at Boston College.
-- Freese enters his senior campaign tied for third nationally with Virginia Tech's Cody Journell and Clemson's Chris Catanzaro among active career leaders for field goals per game (1.4).
-- He has matched the school record for field goals in a game (with four) three times - against Wake Forest (Oct. 1, 2011), vs. Kent State (Sept. 11, 2010) and at Florida State (Oct. 16, 2010).
-- Freese's 224 career points are fourth on Boston College's all-time scoring list, checking in behind John Matich (243; 1996-99), Brian Lowe (262; 1986-89) and record-holder Steve Aponavicius (290; 2006-09).
-- Freese ranks second on the school's career field-goals made list with 50, behind Lowe's 57.
