Wanted to pass along a worthwhile cause near and dear to our hearts here at BCI.

If you aren't in Los Angeles the weekend of September 14 cheering on the Eagles vs. USC, join men's basketball coach Steve Donahue and the American Cancer Society in the running of the third annual Boston College Coaches vs. Cancer 5K Classic on Saturday, September 14.

The event will start and finish in front of Conte Forum.

Last year, the race drew more than 250 runners including Boston College student-athletes, faculty, staff, alumni and local residents. In total, more than $8,000 was raised to help further the ACS' mission of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

"The support from Coach Donahue, Boston College athletics, and alumni and friends of Boston College has been overwhelming not just in terms of participation in a growing 5K, but in all endeavors that raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer program," said Katy Meagher, the Society's Program Manager for Coaches vs. Cancer. "There exists a strong bond between the college basketball community and Coaches vs. Cancer, and we're excited for the opportunity to grow this relationship at Boston College and throughout New England."
