Analysis: How much do recruiting rankings correlate to winning in the ACC (syracuse.com)
Once you get past the top teams, recruiting rankings become much less meaningful. Georgia Tech and Boston College have been consistent winners despite ranking in the bottom third, while Wake Forest has won an ACC championship. There does, though, appear to be a reason that Duke has struggled annually.
Rutgers recruiting: Rutgers a top option for Florida receiver, Kadeem Goulbourne (NJ.com)
Goulbourne, the younger brother of current Green Bay Packers pro scout and former Miami Hurricane linebacker, Glenn Cook, holds offers from 21 schools across the country. And he revealed to NJ.com that Rutgers, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Boston College and Syracuse are his top schools, in that order, with Illinois being the next closest school to possibly break into his top five.
Too-Early 2013 ACC Football Power Rankings (June 10) (Atlantic Coast Convos)
15. Boston College Eagles (Last: 15): Don’t take this ranking as a sign of disrespect — the Eagles will be a much better team in 2013 than they were in 2013. But how much so? If Steve Addazio’s serious about a run-first attack, they’ll need to find someone to carry the ball, while continuing to utilize the respective skill sets of Chase Rettig and Alex Amidon. It won’t happen overnight, but BC may very well be fielding a more balanced, effective attack by mid-season.
ACC Football 2013 Payback Games: Boston College (Atlantic Coast Convos)
Of course, there’s no guarantee the teams end up in a similar end-of-game situation. But with a veteran group returning and a better system in place for Rettig to work with, the Eagles are obviously anxious to turn the tables on Tech, and might actually have the means to do it now.
Ranking the ACC's College Football Stadiums (AthlonSports.com)
The Eagles had been one of college football's most overachieving programs until recently. Not surprisingly, the team's struggles on the field have likewise resulted in a dip in attendance in the stands. Alumni Stadium can be a difficult place to play when it comes to big-time games (see College Gameday in 2009). However, it's tough to draw crowds to Chestnut Hill and when the team struggles, so does the stadium.
