The Boston College women's sailing team finished yesterday in second place after the first day of the ICSA Sperry Top-Siders National Championship finals in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Eagles are one of 18 schools vying for the ICSA women's title.
BC has 77 points, just five behind Dartmouth with a tournament leading 72 points. St. Mary's is in third with 79 points.
Boston College's A Division team had 57 points, while the B Division team had 22 points. In the first four races, Stephanie Hudson and Kate Wysocki raced in the A Division. In races five and six, Hudson and Kelly Roy worked together. The B Division team in the first four races was Erika Reineke and Molly Clarke, while Reineke and Beth Barnard raced in the final two competitions of the day.
As of this writing, the Eagles had retaken the lead from the Big Green, 84 to 88, through race 7B.
Boston College is seeking to repeat as ICSA Women's National Champions. The program previously won the women's title in 2008 and 2012.
