Today USA Hockey announced the 23-player roster for the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team that will compete at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Under-18 Championship from April 18-28, in Sochi, Russia.
A pair of incoming Boston College hockey players wound up making the cut. Goaltender Thatcher Demko (San Diego, Calif.) and defenseman Steven Santini (Mahopac, N.Y.) will represent the U.S. in Sochi later this month. The highly touted goaltender out of California, Demko figures to be in the mix for playing time straight away as a true freshman as the program looks to replace Parker Milner. Similarly, Santini will likely get minutes on the Eagles' blueline this coming season as York looks to replace Patch Alber and Patrick Wey.
The Americans have recently dominated this event and are looking to win their fifth consecutive gold medal in the event. Canada is in a tough spot with this event with the overlap with the CHL playoffs limiting roster selection. You can watch the pair of future Eagles as they look to bring home gold. All U.S. games in the tournament will be streamed live on USAHockey.FASTHockey.com. Complete schedule below:
