The pairings are now set for the 2013 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament to be held March 7-10 at -- where else? -- Greensboro Coliseum. The Boston College Lady Eagles, who snapped a four-game losing streak earlier this afternoon by defeating Georgia Tech 74-68 on Senior Day, earned the no. 11 seed in this week's ACC Tournament.
BC (11-18, 5-11 ACC) finished the regular season in a three-way tie with Wake Forest and Clemson for 9th, but lost the tiebreakers with a 1-3 record against the tied teams. Clemson finished with a combined record of 2-1 against BC and Wake to earn the tournament's no. 9 seed. Wake Forest, 2-1 against the tied teams but having lost the head-to-head against Clemson, is the no. 10 seed.
The Eagles will face the 6th seeded Virginia Cavaliers (16-13, 8-10) in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday at 8 PM. The game will be broadcast on RSN. The Eagles and Cavaliers split the regular season series this season, with UVa winning at home 69-57 back on January 24, and BC earning the 61-49 home win on February 14.
Regular-season champ Duke (27-2, 17-1 ACC) is the tournament's top seed. Maryland (23-6, 14-4) is no. 2, followed by no. 3 North Carolina (26-5, 14-4) and No. 4 Florida State (21-8, 11-7) are the other three teams that will receive first-round byes.
