BC Women's Soccer Cruises Into Elite Eight

Eagles dominate Illinois 4-1 to continue rampage through the NCAA tournament. #SOAR

The Boston College women's soccer team has played three games in the NCAA tournament, and they've won all three easily. On Sunday, they dominated the Illinois Fighting Illini in a Sweet 16 matchup, winning 4-1 and punching their ticket to the Elite Eight.

Things get a bit more challenging in the next round, as BC will travel to Tallahassee on Friday to take on #1 overall Florida State at 3 PM. Astonishingly, the ACC sent 6 teams to the Elite 8, continuing to establish itself as the nation's premier soccer conference.

Four Boston College Eagles scored goals on Sunday, including super sophomore McKenzie Meehan, who notched her 20th goal of the season. Also scoring for BC was Hayley Dowd, Gibby Wagner, and Lauren Bernard.

The Seminoles are now all the stands between BC and their second trip to the College Cup, soccer's final four. However, BC has only one win against FSU all time, beating the 'Noles in a big home game last year.

This season, BC traveled to FSU back in October, and dropped a wild, 4-3 decision to the Seminoles.

We know BC can hang with Florida State. With the way they've been playing in the NCAA tournament, they have the weapons to compete with anyone, even if it would require an upset. Let's hope they put together their best game of the season on Friday and continue their tournament run.
