For the past month or so, I have been sharing with you the Top 20 and point spreads generated by "The Book" and have been mild in my comments, waiting for the big crash where The Book has a horrible week vs the spread, but still it hasn't happened. This week, The Book posted another solid week going 28-23 .549 with two games the same against the Vegas spread, mirroring its results year to date. Heading into the final week of the regular season, The Book is now 323-265-8 .549 with 36 games the same.
Once again though, it didn't pick the BC game correctly, taking the Terps at even, making its mark in games featuring the Eagles just 2-6 on the year, with two spreads the same and one game (Villanova) that it didn't select.
Looking for win number five in a row, BC travels to the Carrier Dome, where the Book has them a 2 point underdog to the Orange.
Interesting to note that just two weeks ago, the spread for BC-Syracuse was SU -10, with Vegas having BC and early 2 1/2 point favorite.
The Book correctly picked Florida State to cover the 56 points vs Idaho (FSU -69) and that kept the Noles atop the weekly top 20 for the fourth consecutive week, followed now by Alabama, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Of note, an FSU/Alabama title matchup would find the Seminoles an unthinkable 10 point favorite over the Tide on a neutral field at this time. The two big upset victims this week, took a tumble, but not huge ones. Baylor dropped from #2 to #6 and Oregon from #4 to #7.
New entries into the poll this week included Washington, Georgia, Oklahoma and Bowling Green replacing Texas A&M, Louisville, Brigham Young and Boise State. Teams in the AP top 25 not in our poll are #16 Fresno State (#21 in the Book), #17 Central Florida (#27), #18 Northern Illinois (#24), #19 Texas A&M (#22), #21 Louisville (#23), #22 UCLA (#25), #24 Duke (#34) and #25 Notre Dame (#31).
BC rises up to #58 in the country and #9 in the ACC, up a good chunk nationwide, but only one spot in the ACC.
