BC Interruption's ACC Power Rankings: Week 10

The ACC paper tiger continued last week as Virginia Tech lost to Duke and Miami all of a sudden looked very beatable against Wake Forest. The biggest riser were the Blue Devils, who after beating the Hokies, rose to the top half of the standings. We only had four voters this week, but let's see how they voted.

1. Florida St. Seminoles

Opponent: Miami Hurricanes

Prediction: Florida State 35 Miami 10. FSU slipped in the BCS bowl this week, but they will have their second marquee matchup in a matter of weeks with the Hurricanes. After watching Miami stammer against Wake Forest last week, I don't feel like they will be much of a match for the Noles, especially in Tallahassee.

2. Clemson Tigers

Opponent: Virginia

Prediction: Clemson 42 Virginia 17. After a slow start the Tigers dispatched Maryland rather quickly last week. This week they get the lowly Hoos. I don't expect CU to start off slow again, and will most likely take control of this game quickly and never look back.

3. Miami Hurricanes

Opponent: Florida State

Prediction: Florida State 35 Miami 10. As I mentioned earlier the U barely beat Wake Forest last weekend, and it took a game winning last minute drive for the Hurricanes to win it. What concerns me for this team is the play of Stephen Morris, who is a matter of weeks has gone from a dynamic quarterback to a redux of Jacory Harris. He makes far too many mistakes, which will doom the Hurricanes against an opportunistic FSU defense.

4. Virginia Tech Hokies

Opponent: Boston College

Prediction: Virginia Tech 13 Boston College 10. Last weekend's brutal loss is behind them now, and it's on to Boston College for the Hokies. I expect VT's offense to continue to sputter, but Boston College's offense to sputter just a little more. It's going to be an ugly game in Chestnut Hill, but in the end Bud Foster's defense will prove to be too much for Eagles.

5. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Opponent: Pittsburgh

Prediction: Georgia Tech 45 Pittsburgh 13. The Yellow Jackets are clicking on all cylinders, with excellent play by their defense, and the option offense putting up lots of points. Heather Dinich had this as a possible upset game, but I just don't see it. GT is playing too well right now, and I am just not buying Pittsburgh at this point in this season.

6. Duke Blue Devils

Prediction: I was a little off last week when I predicted the Blue Devils to lose to VT 28-0. Duke seems to be pretty legit this year, and will be bowling. Congratulations Duke.

Opponent: N.C. State

Prediction: UNC 32 N.C. State 6. The Tar Heels showed all doubters last weekend that the rumors of their demise was greatly exaggerated, pounding the Eagles on both sides of the ball. The announcers during the game kept mentioning that next week "is UNC and State, and you know what that means". Honestly I have no clue what they were talking about, but I can only assume it means that the Heels are going to blow the Wolfpack out of the water.

8. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Last Week: 9

Opponent: Syracuse

Prediction: Wake Forest 28 Syracuse 21. So far it's been quite the turnaround for the Demon Deacons, who had a great game against Miami but just couldn't hold on at the end.

9. Boston College Eagles

Opponent: Virginia Tech Hokies

Prediction: Virginia Tech 13 Boston College 10. Given BC's struggles on offense, this matchup is an utter nightmare. Virginia Tech can stop opponents, and Chase Rettig can't get rid of the ball, if BC wants to stand any sort of chance they are going to have to pray that Andre Williams gets the ball moving. Plus it's home, which may be some help for the Eagles. However, I just don't see BC pulling this one off.

10. Pittsburgh Panthers

Opponent: Georgia Tech

Prediction: GT 45 Pittsburgh 13. The Panthers lost to Navy last weekend in overtime. Good job, good effort.

11. Maryland Terrapins

Prediction: The Terps have become the bizarro-world Wake Forest. Unlike the Demon Deacons where everything goes right, nothing is going right for Maryland. The bad news continued this week for Maryland as one of their starting offensive linemen just quit the team. Have to wonder another win left on their schedule to make a bowl game.

12. Syracuse Orange

Opponent: Wake Forest

Prediction: Wake Forest 28 Syracuse 21. I gave all my reasons my reasons why I think Syracuse will lose. What interests me is that someone at BC Interruption thinks they are the 8th best team in the conference right now. Can't wrap my head around that one.

13. Virginia Cavaliers

Prediction: Clemson 42 UVA 17. Sorry Hoos, just don't see you winning this one. But hey at least you are out of the basement this week. And hey another positive! You have two 5 star recruits coming in 2014 for Mike London to undercoach!

Prediction: UNC 32 NC State 6. Back in the basement you go Wolfpack!
