Boston College mounted a furious comeback, scoring in the 70th and 85th minutes, but it wasn't enough as No. 14 Clemson held on for a 3-2 victory at Riggs Field in South Carolina. Juniors Cole DeNormandie and Giuliano Frano tallied the goals for the Eagles. The loss drops BC to 6-6-2 overall and 3-5-1 in ACC play. Clemson improves to 10-4-2 and 5-2-2 in conference.
With the loss, Boston College is now in a tie for 6th place in the ACC's 12 team table with two league games to play. Like women's soccer, only the top eight programs will qualify for the ACC Men's Soccer Championship (Nov. 12, 15 & 16).
Here's the current league table after Friday's results:

So. Many. Draws. Like, seriously. Can we talk about this?
North Carolina, Duke and Virginia Tech have played in five conferences games that have ended in a draw ... out of 8-9 total contests. That's just nuts. Wake Forest and Virginia have each played to four draws in conference play. Every single one of the conference's 12 programs have played to one draw, with Syracuse (2-5-1) and Boston College (3-5-1) playing in the fewest draws. Just ... one each.
Unlike the women's side, the men still control their own ACC Men's Soccer Championship destiny. Win out and BC will be safely in the ACC Championship field with 16 total points. Add to that conference low draw total and the Eagles could be in trouble, especially with Duke having a match remaining with 0-6-2 Pittsburgh left to play (I'm sensing a theme here for Pitt).
Should be a wild finish to the ACC men's soccer regular season.
Next up, the Eagles break from conference play for a game in Providence against Brown on Tuesday. BC then finishes up the regular season with ACC contests against Virginia Tech (11/3 at 3:30 p.m.) and on the road at Virginia (11/8 at 7:00 p.m.).
Go Eagles!
