We have a clear number one this week as FSU's bludgeoning of Clemson answered any and all questions in regards to who is the top team in the conference. The poll continues to fluctuate as Wake and BC continue to rise, while Syracuse and Maryland plummeted. Let's see how this week's poll came out...
1. Florida St. Seminoles
Last Week: 1
Highest Selection: 1
Lowest Selection: 1
Opponent: N.C. State Wolfpack
Prediction: Florida State 52, N.C. State 10. What an epic pounding the Seminoles unleashed on the Tigers last weekend. It was about as an impressive a win as Jimbo Fisher and his crew could have hoped for. It was on the road, they dominated on both sides of the ball, and Jameis Winston instantly leaped to a Heisman frontrunner. This week will just be too easy for the Noles and they will steamroll the Wolfpack.
2. Clemson Tigers
Last Week: 2
Highest Selection: 2
Lowest Selection: 4
Opponent: Maryland Terrapins
Prediction: Clemson 42, Maryland 7. Clemson epically Clempson'ed in front of a national audience. Not a good outing at all, and in fact some of our voters had them as low as four. After a series of unimpressive games, Clemson gets the Terps, and should right their season with a big time win.
3. Miami Hurricanes
Last Week: 3
Highest Selection: 2
Lowest Selection: 4
Opponent: Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Prediction: Wake Forest 24, Miami 21. UPSET ALERT! Here you go, I am going to go ahead and throw an upset in here. Miami played pretty poorly against UNC last weekend, mainly because Stephen Morris made a handful of turnovers. Duke Johnson, Miami's biggest weapon was also knocked out of the game. Wake Forest is en fuego, and I am going to go with the Demon Deacons in this one.
4. Virginia Tech Hokies
Last Week: 4 (t)
Highest Selection: 2
Lowest Selection:4
Opponent: Duke Blue Devils
Prediction: Virginia Tech 28, Duke 0. The Hokies have one of the nation's best defenses and an offense that is steadily improving. I don't think Duke is all the great as they have only beaten up on bad teams. I'll take Bud Foster's defense in this one.
5. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Last Week: 6
Highest: 5
Lowest: 5
Opponent: Virginia Cavaliers
Prediction: Georgia Tech 38, Virginia 13. I would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Yellow Jacket football players and staff for putting Syracuse firmly in their place last weekend. That beatdown was such an epic thing of beauty that it almost made up for BC having a bye week. UVA is bad, Georgia Tech is clicking, I'll take the Yellow Jackets by a good margin.
6. Boston College Eagles
Last Week: 7
Highest: 6
Lowest: 9
Opponent: North Carolina Tar Heels
Prediction: Boston College 24, North Carolina 21. We will get more into this game during our Final Thoughts, but UNC's rushing defense has been gashed on more than one occasion this year. Compound that with a deflating loss on a last minute touchdown to the U and I say "Vegas be damned, I'm picking the Eagles!".
7. Pittsburgh Panthers
Last Week: 8
Highest: 6
Lowest: 10
Opponent: Navy Midshipmen
Prediction: Pittsburgh 28, Navy 14. When you are only beating Old Dominion by 4 points going into the 4th quarter you would expect BCI voters to be a little skeptical of the Panthers. But here we are, they are still in the upper half of the power standings.
8. North Carolina Tar Heels
Last Week: 10
Highest Selection: 6
Lowest Selection: 13
Opponent: Boston College Eagles
Prediction: Boston College 24, North Carolina 21. Is this team better than their record indicates? Probably. Have they had a very difficult schedule to date? Sure. Should they be eight point favorites over Boston College? HELL NAW.
9. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Last Week: 12
Highest: 8
Lowest: 10
Opponent: Miami Hurricanes
Prediction: Wake Forest 24, Miami Hurricanes 21. As I said above this is my upset of the week. It took a little while but the Demon Deacons have finally got their option offense clicking, and last weekend's beat down of the Terrapins gave Wake their third win in the last four games. Michael Campanaro is playing like an All ACC wide receiver, and I think they will sneak out of Miami with another victory.
10. Duke Blue Devils
Last Week: 8t
Highest: 7
Lowest: 11
Opponent: Virginia Tech Hokies
Prediction: Virginia Tech 28, Duke 0. After falling behind against the Hoos last weekend Duke turned it up and blasted UVA out of the stadium. Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, the Hokies are not a bad team. In fact they are a very good team, a team that will dominate them on both sides of the ball on Saturday.
11. Maryland Terrapins
Last Week: 5
Highest: 10
Lowest: 14
Opponent: Clemson Tigers
Prediction: Clemson 42, Maryland 7. Part of me feels bad that Maryland lost two of their top wide receivers due to injury, because honestly Stefon Diggs is a lot of fun to watch as a player. But the other part of me just loves this epic heaping of schaudenfreude so much that I almost fell down laughing when I saw the score of the Wake Forest game last weekend. Remember when they were a ranked team and everyone was talking about how the Terps were back and were going to be a force again in their final year in the ACC? Lulz. Plus Maryland just lost one of their top recruits (Johnathan Thomas) to Penn State which he then called his "dream school". Oh this is just so great.
12. Syracuse Orange
Last Week: 12
Highest: 11
Lowest: 14
Opponent: Bye
Prediction: Lick your wounds Orange. You have been outscored by a large margin in the ACC, but hey you beat N.C. State. That counts for something right?
13. N.C. State Wolfpack
Last Week: 10
Highest: 11
Lowest: 14
Opponent: Florida St. Seminoles
Prediction: At least they had two weeks to prepare for Florida State. Which honestly won't matter as the Noles will be up big, and expect Winston out there late in the 4th quarter padding up his stats for his Heisman candidacy.
14. Virginia Cavaliers
Last Week: 13
Highest: 13
Lowest: 14
Opponent: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Prediction: Georgia Tech 38, Virginia 10. UVA is a dad team, such a bad bad team. How can a team that recruits so well play so poorly. (Looks at Mike London, has all questions answered)
