Boston College Daily Links: Eagles Prepare for Multiple QB Styles

Good morning! Happy Wednesday. It's a great day to be a Boston College Eagle. To the links, starting with stories about the football team as they prep for North Carolina:

Tar Heels coach Larry Fedora could start either senior Bryn Renner, a traditional pocket passer, or scrambling sophomore Marquise Williams against the visiting Eagles (3-3). He also could use them in a rotation on a situational basis. Renner is experienced, resourceful and cool under pressure. Williams is explosive, unpredictable and a spot passer.

The sight was a familiar one for two solid seasons. As the Boston College football players trotted out of their locker room and onto the Alumni Stadium field for practice, a lone figure walked among them dressed in sweatpants, a boot on one foot. Day after day Kaleb Ramsey watched, unable to participate, first with a plantar fasciitis tear as a senior in 2011, then with a torn calf as a fifth-year senior in 2012 after getting a medical redshirt the previous year.

Ramsey is the only BC athlete remaining who actually played while I was a student, so I'm clinging to that and rooting hard for him. (There are some redshirt seniors who were freshmen when I was a senior, so I guess that's the other solace for those of us in the Class of 2010.)

The men's soccer team pulled off a huge, come-from-behind win over Harvard at home on Tuesday afternoon, coming back from a 2-0 deficit with three second half goals to win 3-2. Junior Brendan Hayes scored two goals for the Eagles. They are now 6-5-2 entering the crucial final four games of the regular season. They certainly still have some work to do in order to secure their place in the NCAA tournament.
