It'll be a disappointing Super Bowl for Boston College fans as the program goes from having the most former players in the big game from a season ago to having just one ... on the Reserve/Injured list.
Former Boston College linebacker Ricky Brown is the only player repping the school in the Super Bowl.
Should the Ravens win the Super Bowl, the former Eagles LB would get a ring if the organization decides to give him one. Typically, teams give every player on the Reserve/Injured and Practice squads a ring out of the 150 they are given by the NFL. Will that be enough to have you cheering for Baltimore in two weeks?
This year, it's the University of Miami that is the most represented college football program in this year's Super Bowl. A total of seven former Hurricanes are on either the 49ers or Ravens active roster, reserve/injured or practice squad. The 49ers are repped by FB Frank Gore and LB Tavares Gooden, while the Hurricanes are represented by DB Damien Berry, LB Ray Lewis, T Bryant McKinnie, S Ed Reed and WR Tommy Streeter.
Oregon has the second most players represented in this year's Super Bowl (5), followed by Marshall, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas and Utah with four. Arizona State, Georgia, Maryland and Rutgers all have three players on either the 49ers or Ravens roster.
Of the Division I-A college football conferences, despite having a program high seven players from Miami, it's the SEC that is most represented as a conference. The SEC has a total of 24 players on a Super Bowl roster, with Georgia (3) leading the way. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee all have two players on a Super Bowl roster.
The ACC and Big Ten tied for second with 19 players. From the ACC, Miami (7), Maryland (3) and Virginia (2) are the teams from the conference with multiple players on a Super Bowl roster. If you include Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Louisville, and remove Maryland, the ACC has 21 players on a Super Bowl roster.
The Pac-12 comes in fourth with 16 players. The Big 12 (12) and Big East (9) round out the top five.
