Luke Kuechly Named NFL Defensive Rookie Of The Year

Luke Kuechly won another major award, no big deal.

He has left Boston College, but Luke Kuechly continues to add onto his impressive resume of trophies and awards. Today the former BC linebacker was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Talk and the Football Writers of America.

Kuechly who led the NFL with 165 tackles (big surprise), two interceptions, and racked up a mind blowing 59 in his final four games, helped the Panthers win four out of their final five games. It appears that he really started to shine after Carolina moved him from outside to inside linebacker. He had an amazing season on a defense that finished 10th in the NFL in total defense, a vast improvement from 2011 where they ranked 28th.

Though they didn't make the playoffs, Carolina has two great cornerstones to their franchise with Cam Newton on offense, and Kuechly on defense. Most BC fans can say that they weren't surprised by his success, because we all knew it was going to happen. Dude is a stud. The only problem I see coming up is where will he fit this trophy if his case is already stacked with his LOTT, Nagurski, Butkus, All American, and Lombardi Awards?

Congratulations Luke, you make BC fans everywhere proud!
