This is going to be a huge weekend for Boston College as Steve Addazio and crew will look to fill in the final slots in the incoming class of 2013. There have been many sources that have reported that up to five recruits will be on campus tomorrow for an official visit. Using the internet, three are definites and the other two are just guesses. If you have any information, leave it in the comments.
Here are the definite visitors.
1. RB Rapheal Webb (Gainesville, Fla.)
Other Offers: Florida Atlantic Owls, Minnesota Golden Gophers
Webb, a 5-foot-9 running back has BC near the top of his list, but will he make the visit this weekend. If getting a dual-threat QB is Addazio's first goal, getting some running back depth has to be second. He already lost LeShun Daniels and Fred Coppett no longer interested in BC, it could be Webb that gets the nod.
2. RB/DB Silas Spearman (Loxahatchee, Fla.)
Other Offers: Minnesota Golden Gophers
Spearman will be on campus, after making it through his entire senior season unranked. I watched some of his film and it's clear that he definitely improved from his junior to senior season. On the offensive side of the ball, he flashed definite speed, and looked extremely quick. Don't sleep on him, he might be one of those rough diamonds that makes a difference once he is here. Don Brown is recruiting him.
There have been other names which have varied from source to source. Let's take a look at two of the possibilities:
1. Dual Threat QB Michael Julian (Hilton Head, S.C.)
Other Offers: N.C. State Wolfpack, Wisconsin Badgers, Toledo Rockets
In his one month as head coach, Steve Addazio has made it clear that he wants a dual threat QB on this roster, and it looks like Tim Boyle and Mackay Lowrie might not be what he is looking for. Julian's name has popped up all over the place, and after a strong Shrine Bowl Game in South Carolina, his name has come up alot. Thought he would be a slam dunk definite this weekend, but saw that he might be visiting NC State this weekend. Wonder if that will actually happen though with Florida transfer Jacoby Brissett recently committing to the Wolfpack.
2. Dual Threat QB Tanner McEvoy (Oradell, N.J.)
Other Offers: Oregon Ducks, Texas Longhorns?
McEvoy, who is a whopping 6-foot-6, was once a prized quarterback for South Carolina before he was buried on the depth chart and was thrown off the team for an alcohol related incident. He has kept his act together and still has three years of eligibility left. According to BCEagles 247, Chip Kelly's departure might lead to McEvoy visiting Boston College. Could this be the first big splash for the Dazzler? He's a New Jersey guy, so he might be a Bill McGovern guy. Would the legal issues scare away the Eagles?
3. Dual Threat QB Damon Mitchell (Egg Harbor City, N.J.)
Committed: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Other Offers: Arkansas Razorbacks, Connecticut Huskies, Iowa Hawkeyes, Wisconsin Badgers
Whoa BC going after someone who already committed? That is certainly something we haven't seen in a while. Many sites and twitter handles have said that Mitchell has continued to look around. He fits Addazio's need for a dual threat QB, and he's a NJ guy so he should be right in Bill McGovern's wheel house. Arkansas recently offered, and given BC's recent woes, it might be a stretch, but some reports say he will be on campus.
