The Boston College baseball team was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic Division and 11th overall in the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Coaches Preseason poll, released on Friday. Out of six. Naturally.

ATLANTIC DIVISION
1. N.C. State Wolfpack (10) 69
2. Florida St. Seminoles (1) 60
3. Clemson Tigers (1) 50
4. Wake Forest Demon Deacons 34
5. Maryland Terrapins 22
6. Boston College Eagles 17

COASTAL DIVISION
1. North Carolina Tar Heels (9) 69
2. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1) 55
3. Virginia Cavaliers (2) 50
4. Miami Hurricanes 39
5. Virginia Tech Hokies 27
6. Duke Blue Devils 12

N.C. State is the preseason pick to win the league, edging out North Carolina 10-9 in the voting.

Last? Really? Checks to see if Maryland is still in the ACC. Yup, still in the ACC. Call me crazy, but I think this team will make some noise in the ACC this season. The Eagles return 18 letterwinners from last year's 22-33 (10-20 ACC) team, including 12 of 16 pitchers, and bring in a highly talented freshman class. If the bullpen can hold up this year, BC is going to be in a bunch of games.

Now if we could only build this program a proper sandlot on Brighton Campus, we'd be solid.

The start of the season is just a few weeks away. Boston College opens the 2013 season in Elon, North Carolina against VCU, Elon and Marist at the Country Inn and Suites Elon Invitational on February 15-17. Follow @BCBirdBall on Twitter for news throughout the season.
