The long wait is finally over ...
The defending National Champion Boston College men's ice hockey program has released its 2012-13 schedule. This year's schedule is highlighted by 10 games against NCAA Tournament teams from last season, seven non-conference games and two tournaments -- the Mariucci Classic in Minneapolis and the 61st annual Beanpot.
Hockey East had previously published a version of the schedule a little over a month ago. Two changes from the schedule. BC's non-conference home date against Yale has been moved from Saturday, January 5 to Friday, January 4. HockeyEastOnline.com also incorrectly lists Minnesota / Air Force as the Eagles' second round matchup in the Mariucci Classic (BC will face Minnesota regardless of what happens in the first round games).
Included in the release are the dates for the Hockey East Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. Quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament will be held at campus sites from March 15-17, while the semifinals and championship are set for Friday and Saturday, March 22-23 at the Garden.
The NCAA Tournament regional rounds begin on Friday, March 29 and goes through Sunday, March 31. Locally, the Northeast Regional will be held on March 29-30 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire (hosted by UNH) while the East Regional will be played on March 30-31 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence (hosted by Brown).
The West Regional doesn't get all that far west this year and will be played at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The University of Michigan play host (perhaps the Wolverines can actually make it out of the Regional round this year). The Midwest Regional will be hosted by Bowling Green and played at the Huntington Center in Toledo. That regional will be as well attended as one might expect. Might as well put it back in St. Louis.
This season's NCAA Frozen Four is set for Thursday, April 11 and Saturday, April 13 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Go Eagles!
