Game number two is here, and it's time to wrap up our preparation for Saturday's game against the University of Maine, who apparently have a football program. This week should be markedly different as BC fans at Alumni Stadium as they won't have to suffer the hordes of BU and Northeastern students, and people who obviously never went to college disguised as Miami fans doing the "U" sign until you want to puke.
Spaz has already said that he isn't looking past Maine this week, which is good, because BC is no shape to look past anyone on the schedule. Lots of talk this week as well about how Maine gave Pittsburgh a good run last year. Well guess what? PIttsburgh just lost to Youngstown State. Your argument is invalid.
However, I just want to see this team win. And win big. Last year we saw BC win a total of one game at home, and it was a horrific snorefest against Tom O'Brien and his Wolfpack. BC fans deserve more than a token win. Please Spaz. Let's unleash all the weapons against Maine. I want to see the cheerleaders doing pushups until their arms fall off.
Speak to Jerry York if you need some fuel to get your team fired up against the Black Bears. I'm sure he has some tales to tell.
Big Questions
Did the defense learn how to tackle this week during practice? Honestly, I hope Spaz and Bill McGovern ran tackling drills on top of tackling drills on top of tackling drills, and they deserve it after last weeks performance. Can Chase Rettig throw for 500+ yards? Will the BC offense continue to make stupid mistakes? Can fans honestly learn anything about this team and their adjustments against a team like Maine?
Lingering Questions
What role will Rolandan Finch play on Saturday? How will the return of Dominique Williams and C.J. Jones help the secondary? Can BC's offense put up 60 points? Is there such a thing as a Maine Black Bears football fan? If so, will they travel during hunting season?
Liquor to Help You Forget About Last Week's Loss:
For this week I had to pick a Maine beer, because there are so many great breweries up there. Unfortunately I haven't hit many of them up yet, and on my trip to Portland this summer I went to Shipyard. Nothing wrong about Shipyard beer, if you can get past the whole Pumpkinhead thing. Monkey Fist IPA was on tap at the brewery, and my heavens is it hoppy. I love the Monkey on the label, it looks like it's rabid and ready to destroy, kind of like the BC so the Monkeyfist got the nod for this week. My wife reminded me though that the monkey would be more effective than the BC defense because the monkey would be more aggressive, intense and punishing.

Maine Man Song - Rhett & Link. I try to find songs that poke fun of either that area of the country or the fans. This one was too easy. I just looked up "Maine people funny" and this was the first thing that came up. You have to love that this blatant Lonely Island ripoff went that extra step and went with the Gordon's fishermen and lumberjack look. Stereotypes are funny.
