The good: The closest thing there was to good news was Boston College (13) putting 39,262 in the seats, up 1,701 from last year's home opener. But the opponent this year was Miami for a league game, and last year it was Northwestern.

The Golden Eagles have proximity on their side. Not only does Montgomery live close to Boston College's campus, he also grew up in Boston before moving to West Virginia then Texas. Montgomery moved back to Massachusetts last year thinking basketball would be his future. Then, some football coaches saw that the 6-foot-4, 295-pound prospect could move, well, like a basketball player.

Women's Basketball Announces Non-Conference Opponents (BCEagles.com)
The Boston College women’s basketball non-conference schedule is set for the 2012-13 season. The Eagles will host BYU, New Hampshire, Northwestern, Rutgers, Arizona State and Vermont. BC will travel to Boston University, Holy Cross, the Seattle Tournament to play Sacred Heart and the winner of Portland or Seattle. The final non-conference road opponent will be Hampton.

Boston College reloads after winning the National Championship last season with a very well rounded 2012 class. Michael Matheson improved mightily throughout last season and is good enough to make a huge impact for BC this season. Joining Matheson on the blue line will be 2011 seventh round pick Colin Sullivan and Ted Doherty.

So, for all of the freshmen out there, you have to know in your mind that you are going to pass the tests and succeed. Remember, your entire team must endure the same runs as you and everybody on your team is there to cheer you on and keep you strong. You worked hard all summer for this, and there is no reason to doubt yourself. Stay upbeat and realize these runs will help everyone become closer and bond.
