For the fifth straight season and the 12th time in the last 15 years, the Boston College men's hockey team has been picked to win the Hockey East regular season title by a vote of the Hockey East coaches. The defending National Champions received nine out of a possible 10 first-place votes, because, well, Jerry York can't vote for himself.
The vote went much the same as the preseason Hockey East media poll. UMass-Lowell was chosen to finish second, followed by Boston University, New Hampshire, Maine, Northeastern, Providence, Merrimack, Massachusetts and Vermont. BC, UMass-Lowell, BU and UNH once again place 1-4 while UMass and Vermont finish 9-10. The media is higher on Providence than the coaches, while the coaches have Maine, Northeastern and Merrimack ranked lower in their preseason poll.
