SB Nation United Is Coming: What You Need To Know

Large_bcinterruption

A few weeks back we unveiled the new BC Interruption site logo and alluded to some major changes happening around the network. Those changes may be coming down the pike sooner rather than later so we want to make sure you are prepared.

Change is a scary thing on the internet. This will be a dramatic makeover of the site which will take some getting used to. We're here to tell you not to worry. The changes to the site will serve to enhance your experience as a reader, ours as writers and everyone's in terms of community participation and engagement.

Basically, this is a real good thing. Some may even call it elite.

By far the best aspect of the SB Nation United redesign of the site is the speed increase. The page loads significantly faster, images load faster and the commenting runs smoother. The other major change is to the layout of the front page site, which will become much more richer and dynamic. At the top of the page, we will be able to make sure you have access to all the biggest stories, game threads and team information without having to scroll halfway down the page. No more major news stories getting buried under the most recent post. If there's breaking news, you won't have to scramble to find it. It's all right there, readily accessible as soon as the page loads.

We want to let you know upfront that at this point the new redesign of the platform is set and no changes will be made or complaints entertained prior to the release based on community feedback.

Hit the jump for a teaser of the new redesign and why the network is moving in this direction.

That's a screen grab of SB Nation's Ohio State Buckeyes site Land-Grant Holy Land. Basically, change the LGHL logo to the new BCI logo, play with the color scheme, remove all football imagery and replace with pics of Jerry York and the defending National Champions and, well, you get the idea.

Now why we are doing this:

  • SB Nation United is going to make our sites load faster and run better meaning you can get to the content you want faster.
  • SB Nation United is going to make sure that you're seeing the best and brightest content up front with our flexible layout, modern design and reduction of clutter.
  • SB Nation United is going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change.
  • SB Nation United will not take away or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts and FanShots and GameThreads.

There you have it. Stay tuned, and get excited.

Go Eagles!
