Former Boston College blueliner Brian Dumoulin's career in Carolina was extremely short-lived as the two time National Champion was dealt to Pittsburgh in a blockbuster deal involving Jordan Staal. Stall was dealt to Carolina in exchange for the eighth overall pick in tonight's NHL Draft, center Brandon Sutter and Dumo.

Staal is united with his brother Eric, who also plays for the Canes.

Here's Canes Country's reaction:

To get Staal, the Hurricanes gave up Sutter - in his own right one of the game's emerging shutdown centers - and the chance to select one of several available impact players at No. 8. Toss in Dumoulin, a two-time NCAA champion at Boston College, and the Canes paid a hefty price for the NHL's third-oldest Staal brother.

And here's Pensburgh's reaction to the same deal.

Dumoulin joins an organization with more than a few Boston College connections. Former blueliner Brooks Orpik (BC 2001) and Ben Lovejoy (BC '03, Dartmouth '07) are on the Pens current roster, while Carl Sneep (BC 2010) and Brian Gibbons (BC 2011) are in the Pens' minor league system.

Best of luck to Dumo in Pittsburgh.
