The pairings for the 14th annual 2012 ACC/Big Ten Challenge have been set. Boston College will travel to State College, Pennsylvania to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday, November 28. It will be the second straight year that the Eagles and Nittany Lions have faced one another in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. BC fell at home to Penn State 62-54 in last year's Challenge, the program's first ever loss in the event (5-1).
Here are the pairings and matchups for the 14th annual 2012 ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Times and networks are to be determined.
Tuesday, November 27
North Carolina Tar Heels at Indiana Hoosiers
N.C. State Wolfpack at Michigan Wolverines
Minnesota Golden Gophers at Florida St. Seminoles
Maryland Terrapins at Northwestern Wildcats
Iowa Hawkeyes at Virginia Tech Hokies
Nebraska Cornhuskers at Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Wednesday, November 28
Ohio St. Buckeyes at Duke Blue Devils
Virginia Cavaliers at Wisconsin Badgers
Michigan St. Spartans at Miami Hurricanes
Purdue Boilermakers at Clemson Tigers
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Illinois Fighting Illini
Boston College Eagles at Penn St. Nittany Lions
Of this year's matchups, there are only two rematches from last year's Challenge. BC-Penn State is one and Nebraska-Wake Forest is the other. I can't imagine why they paired these particular teams together again this season ...
As for the Challenge overall, the ACC won the event in each of first 10 times, but it's been the Big Ten that has won the last three. In the event of a 6-6 tie, the title will be retained by last year's champ -- the Big Ten.
So given the matchups, who wins?
