New York Giants' Mathias Kiwanuka Gets Paid

Love this, and not just because he's a New York Giant ...

The New York Giants will be keeping Mathias Kiwanuka around for a few more years, as the linebacker/defensive end signed a three-year contract extension through 2015, the team announced on Friday.

Kiwanuka was entering the last year of a two-year deal he signed last summer as a free agent, coming off a neck injury that forced him to miss 13 games in 2010.

He had a career-high 84 tackles and 3½ sacks last season and showed he has fully recovered from a herniated disc in his neck. The contract extension is worth $21.75 million, according to reports.

Kiwanuka is easily one of my favorite Boston College players of all time. Tremendous news for the Super Bowl champ. Big Blue View's Ed Valentine writes of Kiwi's contract extension, "Love Kiwanuka as a player and as a lockerroom presence. His willingness to play multiple positions without complaint, and play them well, is critical to the Giants' defense."

Truer words.
