What a great day to be an Eagle. Luke Kuechly one of the finest young men to wear the maroon and gold was selected with the ninth pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall. Kuechly will join other stars such as Cam Newton, Steve Smith and fellow inside linebacker Jon Beason on the Panthers roster. Kuechly who was not in attendance was shown via satellite celebrating with family and friends after Roger Goodell made the announcement.
Last year Carolina struggled mightily on defense, ranking 28th in total defense, 24th in passing defense, and 25th in rushing defense. Kuechly will make a formidable tandem with three time Pro Bowl selection Beason, forming an "All ACC" ILB crew. Kuechly will be working under defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, who took over in 2011, and linebacker coach Warren Belin.
As always Eagles Nation showed their support for Kuechly, who was BC's first Top 10 selection since BJ Raji in 2009 and Matt Ryan in 2008. Fans everywehere were proud as well, and wish nothing but the best for one of the best defensive players to ever play for the Eagles. He is leaving big shoes to fill at the Heights, but man he is going to be fun to watch in the NFL.
Congratulations Luke! Knock 'em dead!
Carolina just got 1 helluva player!congratulations Luke Kuechly
