"We are so excited to be here," York told the gathering. "It’s almost surreal with the Towers on the Heights and we are all here celebrating what Boston College has achieved. We have had so many terrific teams over the years in a lot of different sports, we share this with the football and basketball and all 30 sports teams besides hockey.

At Penn State, Syracuse and Arkansas, coaches have brought shame to their schools, but York stands as a complete and refreshing contrast. "He was part of a very successful program at Boston College and we look forward to seeing him with Lake Erie," Avalanche general manager Greg Sherman said in a statement.

B's sign BC defenseman Cross to deal (ESPN Boston)
"It’s special," Cross said at the Eagles' on-campus celebration of their national championship. "It’s a great organization. It’s an honor to sign [with them]. I think right now it hasn’t really settled in -- my mind is still here at BC. I’ve had four unbelievable years here. It’s sad to see it come to an end, but when one door closes another one opens."
