Boston College Hockey No. 1 In Polls

The Boston College hockey team will enter this week's Hockey East Quarterfinals with a big, ol' fat bullseye on their fabulous gold alternate sweaters*. The Eagles are the unanimous number 1 team in the country this week, according to both the USCHO.com and USA Today / USA Hockey polls.

Boston College (25-10-1), winners of 11 straight, received all 50 first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and all 34 in the USA Today poll.

Boston University drops from fourth to sixth in both polls after splitting with the Huskies over the final weekend of the regular season. UMass-Lowell holds at 7/8. Maine drops from seventh to 10th in the USA Today poll and holds steady at 10 in the USCHO.com poll. Merrimack drops two spots in both polls to number 14 this week to round out the Hockey East representation in this week's polls.

BC was also named this week's Hockey East Team of the week, according to a release by the conference. I think.

Fail.

Boston College goaltender Parker Milner picked up co-defensive player of the week honors, because, well, I guess they got tired of giving the award just to Parker. It's the third straight week Milner has been honored by the conference. I suppose if he had stopped 56-of-56 shots instead of 55-of-56 shots last weekend they would have given him non-Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors. Slacker.

* And while I have no insider knowledge as to which sweater BC will wear this weekend, why wear anything other than the Frozen Fenway alts for this week's Hockey East Quarterfinals against UMass? Stick with what works, guys.

Eight more Ws. Go Eagles!
