Josh D. Weiss-US PRESSWIRE

The field is finally set.

The 12th seeded Boston College Eagles (9-21, 4-12 ACC) will face the 5th seeded N.C. State Wolfpack (20-11, 9-7 ACC) in the first round of the 2012 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament. BC and N.C. State will meet on Thursday in the second game of the first session. Tip will follow the Maryland-Wake Forest game at approximately 2:30 PM.

N.C. State finished the season with the same record in conference as Virginia and Miami at 9-7. Virginia wins the three-way tiebreaker and earns the no. 4 seed based on the Cavaliers 2-0 record against N.C. State and Miami. N.C. State finished with a 2-1 record and earns the no. 5 seed, while Miami finished 0-3 and earns the no. 6 seed.

Similarly, BC finishes in a four-way tie for ninth place (12th?) at 4-12 with Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, but loses all tiebreakers based on the Eagles' 2-4 record against the other three teams.

The Eagles lost both regular season meetings against the Wolfpack this season -- a 76-62 loss in Raleigh back on January 19 and a 56-51 loss at home on February 1.
