Boston College's ACC Tournament Seeding Scenarios: March 1 Edition

Winning feels better than losing, eh? With last night's 56-52 win over the Jackets, the Eagles are now out of the basement and in line for an 11 seed in the ACC Tournament. BC can still finish as high as 9th with a win over Miami and some help.

Here's the remaining schedule for teams that BC is competing with for the 9 seed.

-- Virginia Tech (4-10) plays at Clemson and hosts N.C. State.
-- Wake Forest (4-11) plays at Georgia Tech.
-- Boston College (4-11) plays at Miami.
-- Georgia Tech (3-12) hosts Wake Forest.

If the ACC Tournament started today, here's how the tournament would shake out.

No. 5 N.C. State (8-7) vs. No. 12 Georgia Tech (3-12)
No. 6 Miami (8-7) vs. No. 11 Boston College (4-11)
No. 7 Clemson (7-7) vs. No. 10 Wake Forest (4-11)
No. 8 Maryland (6-9) vs. No. 9 Virginia Tech (4-10)

No. 1 Duke (13-2) vs. 8/9 winner
No. 2 North Carolina (13-2) vs. 7/10 winner
No. 3 Florida State (10-4) vs. 6/11 winner
No. 4 Virginia (8-6) vs. 5/12 winner

Duke, Carolina and Florida State have all clinched first-round byes, while Virginia controls its destiny for the fourth and final bye. Currently BC draws Miami and if they should win, Florida State. While I know BC beat FSU earlier this year, I'd almost rather see the Eagles draw N.C. State-Virginia than Miami-FSU, as the Hurricanes present all sorts of matchup issues for the Eagles (hi Reggie Johnson!). The Maryland-Duke path to the ACC Semis might even be preferable to Miami-FSU. ACC Semis talk? OK, maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself here.
