* cliched playoff berth; # clinched home ice for quarterfinals; (PS) possible finish

The Eagles victory over the Friars, combined with Northeastern's win over Maine gives BC home ice for the Hockey East quarterfinals. BC can now finish no worse than fourth in the final regular season Hockey East standings.

Now two points ahead of Boston University and three ahead of UMass-Lowell, playoffstatus.com gives the Eagles an 88 percent chance of taking the regular season crown. Just an 11 percent probability of finishing second, a one percent probability of finishing third and less than one percent probability of finishing in fourth.

Something to keep an eye on will be the two-way tie breaker scenarios. BC owns the tie breakers over UMass-Lowell (2-1-0) and Merrimack (2-0-1), but doesn't own the tie breaker over BU (1-2-0).

If the season ended today, here is what the Hockey East quarterfinals would be:

No. 1 Boston College vs. No. 8 Northeastern (BC won regular season series 3-0-0)
No. 2 Boston University vs. No. 7 Providence (BU 2-1-0)
No. 3 UMass-Lowell vs. No. 6 New Hampshire (UML 2-1-0)
No. 4 Merrimack vs. No. 5 Maine (MC 2-0-1)

Go Eagles!
