The Recruiting Nest: Florida Wide Receiver Dionte Taylor

In an effort to keep you informed of the happenings on the Boston College recruiting trail, BC Interruption will be highlighting recruits with offers in hand from the Eagles.

Name: Dionte Taylor
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6'0
Weight: 165 lbs
School: University School, Fort Lauderdale Florida
Other Offers (Currently): Bowling Green, Duke, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Miami (OH).

According to an interview with Taylor he has some bigger BCS schools checking him out right now:

Great, may you tell me who is recruiting you as of now?
Nebraska, Michigan State, Wisconsin, FSU, Florida, UM, Duke, Boston College, Clemson and others

What is important to the recruit?

That’s great! Keep grinding what is one thing you like a college recruiter to know about you?
That I’m looking for early playing time and a strong degree.

Chances He Becomes An Eagle:

Right now the chances that Taylor could be coming to Boston College are pretty strong. According to reports he lists Boston College as his top choice. BC doesn't have much established depth coming up at wide receiver. Taylor would be coming here after Colin Larmond Jr. graduates and Alex Amidon, Jonathan Coleman and Bobby Swigert would only be around for one more season. Of course BC also could provide him with a world class education.

However BC does have a few things going against them in their recruitment of Taylor. First of all Ryan Day was the lead recruiter, and he has left the program to become Offensive Coordinator at Temple. Secondly, some of the Florida schools (UF, FSU and Miami) are starting to show interest in Taylor, which doesn't bode well for Eagles. If BC wants to get Taylor, they are going to need to push hard, and try to get an early commitment or else risk losing him to another BCS power.
