Boston College Women's Hockey Earns No. 2 Seed In WHEA Tournament

On Sunday, the Women's Hockey East Association announced the pairings for the 10th annual WHEA Tournament. The women's team, looking to defend its WHEA Tournament title, earned the No. 2 seed and a first round-bye. Along with top-seeded Northeastern, BC will compete the following weekend on March 3 in the WHEA semifinals at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center (HYCC).

No. 4 seed Providence (11-8-2 WHEA) will host No. 5 seed Maine (11-8-2) at Schneider Arena in the first semifinal, while No. 3 seed Boston University (14-7-0) will host No. 6 seed New Hampshire (4-15-2) at Walter Brown. Connecticut (3-15-3) and Vermont (3-16-2) failed to qualify for the postseason tournament.

The following weekend, Northeastern will play the lowest remaining seed while BC will play the highest remaining seed. If chalk holds, BC is looking at a WHEA Tournament semifinals matchup against Boston University. The Eagles lost the regular season series to the Terriers, splitting the two programs' early-season home-and-home (1-4 loss and a 3-1 win) before falling at BU 6-0 back on January 25.

You can watch four of the five tournaments games live online via Pack Network. Single-game subscriptions for the women's tournament are available for $7.95. An all-tournament pass is $19.95. Go to www.hockeyeastonline.tv for more details. NESN will broadcast the WHEA Championship Game on Sunday, March 4 on tape delay at 4:30 p.m.
