Bad news has already hit the 2012 Boston College football program as Montel Harris is already gone for spring practice. Late last week Harris was cleared for practice, but Spaziani had said they weren't going to push Harris because they already knew what he could do.
But it appears Harris couldn't handle much, as he was injured in the first practice of the spring.
"Boston College football coach Frank Spaziani announced today that senior running back Montel Harris will not participate in spring practice due to a re-aggravation of the left knee injury that sidelined him for much of last season. Harris participated in this past Saturday's first practice of the spring season and complained of soreness afterwards.
Dr. Tom Gill performed surgery on the knee last August. Harris missed the first three games of the 2011 season and returned for only two games, vs. UMass and Wake Forest, before missing the remainder of the season."
Harris joins Bobby Swigert and C.J. Jones as the three Eagles who are not practicing this spring. Jones and Swigert are recovering from surgeries they also had during the offseason.
Not good. Not good at all. Honestly though, I didn't expect much out of Harris this spring, but this has to raise even more red flags about the impact he will have on this season. If he can't even make it through one practice without experiencing soreness, how is he going to make it through a game? Maybe holding him out is just a precautionary measure, but our outlook for Montel Harris has to be mixed at this point. Have to feel bad for the kid at this point.
If Harris isn't healthy, who will be the go to back this fall? Andre Williams, Tahj Kimble or Deuce Finch?
