National Signing Day, Boston College Recruiting: DE Malachi Moore

Part of BC Interruption's National Signing Day Coverage.

Malachi Moore
Hometown: Sparta, NJ
High School: Pope John XXIII High School
Position: Defensive End
Height: 6-6
Weight: 245 lbs

Rankings: Rivals 2* (Not ranked for position, or state), ESPN 2* (Scout Grade 45), Scout.com 2* (Pos Ranking #168), 247sports 2* graded an 83 (Position ranking SDE #54, State 27). Also recruited by Temple. Recruited by Mike Dawson.

Strengths: Via NJ.com

The Second Team All-State honoree used a mixture of power and speed to total 60 tackles, 14 sacks, five passes defensed, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries at defensive end. He also played some offense as he came in as a blocking tight end and caught four passes for 40 yards. He committed to Boston College over the summer.

Also played basketball in high school.

Realistic Outlook: Another large defender, much in the similar mold to Mehdi Abdesmad, Moore comes to BC as a very under the radar guy. Moore had a solid senior year at Pope John, yet still did not receive much attention on the recruiting trail. BC's defensive ends struggled mightily last season, and the early departure of Max Holloway leaves BC even thinner at the position. Moore is a raw recruit, but is one of those recruits that BC fans love to talk about, under recruited but could be a major impact player if he is coached well.

Welcome to the Heights, Malachi!
