National Signing Day, Boston College Recruiting: LB Tim Joy

Part of BC Interruption's National Signing Day Coverage.

Tim Joy
Hometown: Chelmsford, MA
Position: Outside Linebacker
Height: 6-1
Weight: 215 lbs
Shuttle: 4.45
Vertical:
37 inches

Rankings: Rivals 3* (12th ranked MA recruit), ESPN 2* 74 grade ( State 8, Position 116, Region 198), Scout (Position 146), 247sports 2* (129 position, 11 MA recruit). Also recruited by UConn, Maryland and Duke and a bunch of FCS programs. Recruited by Sean Devine. Named Massachusetts Defense Player of the Year in 2011 and Massachusetts Super 26 team.

Recruiting Story: (Via ESPN.Com)

"Coach [Sean] Devine offered at camp. I pulled my hamstring earlier in the day, so I was pretty disappointed, didn't think anything was going to happen to be honest, because I didn't really get to show them what I have. But then coach Devine talked to me after, told me everything was going to be OK, and then later that night once I got home, I got a phone call and he told me the news. It was awesome."

Favorite Eagles:

"Mike McLaughlin, [Mark] Herzlich, Matt Ryan, all the big guys then. Mike McLaughlin, I've been with him a lot lately. We work out down at Athletic Evolution together, and I see him all the time. He's been my hero since I was a little kid. Being with him is awesome."

Optimistic Outlook: Considered undersized for his position, Joy had a terrific senior season, capturing many Massachusetts accolades. He can play inside or outside linebacker, so Bill McGovern will have some flexibility on giving him playing time. BC has a glutton of depth at linebacker, especially if Steven Daniels enrolls, so it may be some time before Joy gets playing time. Even though he was under recruited, Joy may be one of those players that come out of no where and becomes one of those BC success stories.

(Unfortunately the only game film online I was able to find for Tim Joy has him playing as a fullback)
