The second most important news involving "Boston College" and "Brown" to come down this afternoon. The ProJo's Mark Divver is reporting that York and the boys will travel down I-95 to Providence to take on the Brown Bears on Saturday, January 11, 2014.
Just heard from Brendan Whittet that Brown will host BC on Sat., Jan. 11, 2014. Pretty sure it's 1st BC visit to Meehan since late 90s . . .

The Eagles and Bears haven't faced one another in more than a decade, with the last meeting between the two former ECAC rivals taking place on January 2, 2000. Boston College won 6-2. It's the Eagles first trip to Meehan Auditorium since the 1997-98 season, where BC won 6-3. The program is unbeaten against the Bears in their last eight meetings (6-0-2), a streak that dates back to the beginning of the 1978-79 season.
All told, BC owns a 47-18-6 edge in the all-time series vs. Brown.
With Notre Dame joining Hockey East next season, the league will pare down the league schedule to just 20 games, leaving ample opportunity to fill the non-conference schedule. Unlike previous years, where York filled the few nonconference dates available almost exclusively with marquee opponents, it seems like there will be a push to strike more of a balance between local clubs and western powers. BC is already schedule to play RIT at Blue Cross Arena next season and looks to be involved in next year's tentatively planned Frozen Fenway event.
Though this game with Brown could signal that York isn't afraid of taking his club on the road to play in a much smaller setting. Brown's Meehan Auditorium seats just 2,495.
