New Boston College Athletic Director Brad Bates wasted little time in making the rounds following today's press conference. First he sent an email to season ticket holders, fans and alumni shortly after today's press conference announcing the hire.

Subject: Proud to be an Eagle

Dear Friends:

It is with a great sense of pride that I write to you this afternoon as your new director of athletics here at Boston College.

Having just left the press conference in the Yawkey Center, I wanted to let you know that I have long admired the passion and dedication BC alumni, parents, and friends have for their university. It is a special privilege to join you, and I will do my best to make you proud in the months and years ahead.

In their commitment to excellence on and off the field, Boston College's student-athletes are already an enormous source of pride for our community. My colleagues and I will do everything possible to support these wonderful young men and women, and to take our program to even greater heights in the years ahead.

I was also impressed to learn how many of our alumni, parents, and friends support our student-athletes by attending games, cheering on our teams, and contributing financially. I want to thank you for that support.

I look forward to seeing you in the stands, meeting you on campus and saying hello in person, once I have settled into my new role. I encourage you to stop by and visit whenever you are on campus. For now, thank you for all you do for Boston College.

Ever to Excel!

Sincerely,

Brad Bates
Director of Athletics
Boston College

The school followed that up with a YouTube video message.

Bates also created a new Twitter account and is already up to close to 1,400 followers in a few hours. You can follow the school's new Director of Athletics at @BCBradBates.

So far he's saying all the right things and quickly making the rounds, meeting with players and coaches. On behalf of the entire BC Interruption crew, I want to welcome Mr. Bates to the Heights and wish him the best of luck in his new role.

Ever to Excel!
