Boston College Hockey Receives Commitment From Malden Catholic Casey Fitzgerald

Over the weekend, Coach York and the Eagles hockey program received a verbal commitment from Malden Catholic freshman defenseman Casey Fitzgerald, according to ESPN Boston. York attended last Wednesday's game between MC and BC High at UMass-Boston.

Fitzgerald has nine points (1-8-9) in 10 games for Malden Catholic, and has spent time on both the Lancers first and second defensive pairings ... all in his first season.

"What he's done so far has been impressive," [Lancers head coach John] McLean said of Fitzgerald's time with the Lancers. "He's a high-IQ player with a great sense for the game and he sees the ice extremely well."

Fitzgerald, who turns 15 next month, is expected to hit the Heights for the 2015-16 or 2016-17 season. His older brother Ryan is already committed to play for BC for 2013. Casey and Ryan are the sons of former Boston Bruins and Providence College's Tom Fitzgerald.

Hopefully the Fitzgeralds will join the long line of brothers who went on to star for York and the Eagles -- the Whitneys, Atkinsons, Hayes, Orpiks, Giontas. The list is getting a little out of hand.

Welcome to the Heights, Casey.
