Boston College Football History In The Senior Bowl

On Monday, CB Donnie Fletcher was named to the 2012 Senior Bowl roster, marking the seventh straight year the Eagles have had at least one senior represented in the game. Here are the most recent BC representatives on the annual Senior Bowl roster:

2006: Mathias Kiwanuka (DE), Jeremy Trueblood (OT)
2007: Josh Beekman (OT), James Marten (OT)
2008: Gosder Cherilus (OT), DeJuan Tribble (DB)
2009: Ron Brace (DT), B.J. Raji (DT)
2010: Matt Tennant (C)
2011: Anthony Castonzo (OT), Mark Herzlich (LB)
2012: Donnie Fletcher (CB)

Should players like Montel Harris or Kaleb Ramsey return to form in 2012, or a guy like Colin Larmond Jr. or Chris Pantale have a big year, you have to like BC's chances of extending the program's Senior Bowl streak to eight straight next year.

In all, Boston College has placed a senior in the Senior Bowl game in 46 of the 63 years that the exhibition game has been run (over 73 percent).

Here's how the Eagles all-time Senior Bowl roster breaks down by the numbers:

-- 7 straight years with a rep from B.C. on the Senior Bowl roster, the longest such streak in program history
-- 28 offensive players, 17 players and 1 Will Blackmon (WR / CB)
-- Half of the total offensive players in the Senior Bowl (28) were from the Eagles offensive line (14)
-- Just one of those 28 players was a wide receiver (Blackmon). BC has also had five running backs and two quarterbacks. Skill position players have never really been our thing.
-- 2 other cornerbacks -- Will Blackmon in 2006 and Lenny Walls in 2001
-- A program high four seniors on the 1999 Senior Bowl roster (OT Darnell Alford, DE Chris Hovan, DB Pedro Cirino and DB George White)
