Previewing The Boston College Eagles (Backing The Pack)
With a legion of freshmen in place of those departed contributors, the degradations are what you see in the table, and the result is an offense that ranks 278th in OE. They've actually gotten a little better at the defensive end this season, and the fact that they are so drastically worse off overall says enough about the nose dive taken at the offensive end. This team has only eclipsed a point per possession three times all year. It's possible to survive with a middling shooting percentage, but not with those turnover and rebound rates.

For the second straight game, freshman Dennis Clifford led all scorers with 15 points as Boston College edged visiting Virginia Tech in Saturday's ACC game ... Clifford has scored 10-or-more points in six of his last seven games and over that span is averaging 14.8 points and 6.0 rebounds ... sophomore Matt Humphrey added 14 points against the Hokies, and his eight rebounds were a season high ... with 12 points against Virginia Tech, freshman Ryan Anderson scored in double figures for the third time in four games ... after winning back-to-back ACC games at home, the Eagles are set to travel to NC State on Thursday night.

The top two teams in the Hockey East, No. 4 Boston College and No. 7 Northeastern, battled to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday night at Kelley Rink, leaving the league’s regular-season title up for grabs with eight games to play. The Eagles (16-6-2, 9-2-2 WHEA) sit atop the standings with the Huskies (15-5-2, 9-2-2 WHEA), as both programs have 20 points, but own the tie-breaker having taken the series with a 2-0-1 record this year.
