With the second half of the college hockey season now upon us, it's time for the annual fan balloting portion of the 2012 Hobey Baker Award. The fan voting phase began yesterday with three Boston College Eagles making the ballot -- junior forward Chris Kreider, junior defenseman Brian Dumoulin and senior defenseman and captain Tommy Cross.
The first phase of voting will run now through March 4, when the list will be culled down to 10 Hobey Baker finalists. Phase two of fan balloting will begin on March 16 from the list of Top Ten Hobey Baker finalists, while the Hobey Hat Trick will be announced on March 29.
The fans' vote accounts for a full 1 percent of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient.
To vote, simply visit the Hobey Baker website -- hobeybakeraward.com -- and click on the Vote for Hobey Baker icon and follow the prompts. Rinse, wash, repeat. If memory serves, you can vote once a day between now and March 4 for the first phase of voting. So get out there and support the Eagles.
As of this writing, the Eagles' leading vote getter -- Chris Kreider -- was sitting in ninth place with 4 percent of the vote, behind Boston University goaltender Kieran Millan. Please help fix this injustice by remembering to vote BC daily.
