Boston College Men's Soccer Ranked Eighth In Latest NSCAA Rankings

This Friday's ACC opener between Boston College and Maryland will be a matchup of two top 10 teams, according to the latest NSCAA National Rankings released Tuesday. The 8th ranked Eagles (4-0-0) have jumped eight spots this week from being ranking 16 last week. Maryland (3-0-0) comes into the match ranked 2nd in the country behind fellow ACC program North Carolina. In all, three ACC programs are ranked in this week's top eight.

3. Connecticut (3-0-0) 
4. Akron (2-0-1) 
5. Creighton (3-0-0)
6. UC Santa Barbara (3-0-0)

10. Indiana (2-0-1) 

In addition to Friday's game against #2 Maryland, the Eagles also have upcoming matches against #3 Connecticut (Sept. 20), #24 Virginia (Oct. 29) and current #1 North Carolina (Nov. 2).

-- "Goalkeeper Justin Luthy led a Boston College defense that allowed just one goal in three matches last week and was a part of two shutouts. The junior racked up 11 saves while facing 32 shots and had a save percentage of .917. His goals against average was a mere 0.34 for the three matches. The only goal he allowed was against Fairfield and came on a scramble in the box. Luthy's shutout time streak currently stands at 189:11." (via
