Despite starting the season 0-2, and despite scoring just 20 points in two games, the LVSC Open line on the Boston College-Duke game this Saturday has been set at Boston College -9. The Wynn Las Vegas has come down a bit from the initial LVSC Open recommended line, setting the early odds on this game at Boston College -7.
So who's ready to lose all their hard earned cash picking the Eagles to win by more than a touchdown in a pillow fight between two 0-2 ACC programs?
Duke enters this game 0-2 after a 44-14 beatdown at the hands of Stanford and a loss to I-AA Richmond, the program's third loss to the Spiders in the last six seasons. The Blue Devils' usually strong offense has managed just 17.5 points over their first two games, good for 102nd in the country. Coming into the game as a touchdown favorite sounds about right after you hear that stat, until you realize that it's Boston College who has an even worse scoring offense nationally (110th).
Further bruising our otherwise delicate egos is the fact that Eagles enter this game ranked 96th nationally in total defense, ranked between Houston and Louisiana-Lafayette. The Duke defense, meanwhile, ranks 81st in the country.
For the ACC's big four week 3 matchups, Florida State is a 3 point dog at home against Oklahoma. Clemson is a 3.5 point favorite over Auburn at home (basically, even money), while Maryland and Miami (Florida) are both slight dogs (+1) at home as they host West Virginia and Ohio State, respectively.
Other opening lines of note:
-- Central Florida is just a 3.5 point favorite at Florida International
-- The Irish are favored by 5 at home as they host Michigan State
-- North Carolina is a 10-point favorite at home against Virginia in a matchup of ACC Coastal programs the Eagles won't face this year.
-- Virginia Tech is a 27 point favorite over Arkansas State
-- Wake Forest and N.C. State are off the board for scheduling two body bags.
