Former Boston College guard Tyrese Rice has signed a contract with Lithuania's BC Lietuvos Rytas, according to a release on the club's website. After going undrafted in 2009, Rice has played for the 2010 Utah Jazz and Orlando Magic summer-league teams, but has spent a majority of the two seasons playing in Greece and Germany.
Last season, Rice played for the Artland Dragons in the German Bundesliga, finishing as the club's leader in both points (17.3 ppg) and assists (5.1 apg). He also added 121 rebounds and 39 steals in 43 games.
Rice signs a "one plus one" deal with the Lithuanian clubs -- a one year deal with a possible extension for a second season.
Here's what the club website had to say about Rice:
"Tikimės, kad T.Rice'as įžaidėjų grandyje sudarys gerą duetą su Aleksandru Rašičiumi. Serbas yra kitokio stiliaus žaidėjas nei mūsų naujokas kairiarankis amerikietis, kuris yra fiziškai stiprus, greitesnis, aštresnis, mėgsta veržtis po krepšiu", - sakė "Lietuvos ryto" klubo direktorius Martynas Purlys."
Roughly translated: "Rice is a baller and will make a great addition to the BC Lietuvos Rytas backcourt. The American left-hander is physically powerful, faster, sharper and likes to push to the basket." You think I'm kidding, but the translation is actually pretty close to this. Try it out for yourself.
Best of luck to @ReseRice4 as he continues his career in Lithuania.
