Boston College Daily Links: Steve Donahue Rounds Out Coaching Staff

Donahue fills out staff: "Meet the Metz" (Eagle in Atlanta)
Since Joe Jones took the BU job, Steve Donahue has been left with a opening on his staff. It looks like he will fill it with one of his former assistants Izzi Metz. Metz comes to BC after five seasons as the Head Coach at Hobart. Blaudschun speculates that Donahue might move Metz into an Ops position.

Damien Woody Retires (Gang Green Nation)
I take this to mean the Jets were not confident in Woody's ability to recover from his Achilles injury. It takes away athleticism, and it is tough for a 33 year old to overcome any serious injury

Chris Herren Documentary To Air On ESPN (From Inside the Box)
ESPN will follow up on its critically hailed "30 for 30" series of documentaries with a new slate of films in the fall. "Unguarded about former high school and NBA player Chris Herren's struggles with addiction and his road to recovery.

David Glenn Chats With Montel Harris (ACC Sports)
Among the topics they discussed: the excitement of approaching the all-time ACC rushing record; Harris’ unusual recruiting story and how he ended up in Chestnut Hill all the way from Jacksonville, Fla.; his secret to staying healthy at the running back position; and his background in martial arts and how it has helped him as a running back.

2011 Clemson Pre-Camp QB Analysis (Shakin The Southland)
This job is Tajh Boyd's to lose, and how good a season we have in 2011 really depends on his progression. If a freshman gets the job (barring injury), it'll mean that we lost the first 3 tough games (or worse) of this season, and nobody wants that. We think he can do it, if he gets the reps. Tajh will have to learn to take care of the football better.

Time is of the essence for Georgia Tech (ESPN ACC Blog)
Since Johnson took over at Georgia Tech in 2008, the Yellow Jackets are 21-6 when teams have one week of practice or less to prepare. Compare that to a 5-8 record against FBS opponents that had more than a week to prepare. Of course, the games that stand out most in that losing record are the bowl games, in which the Jackets have gone 0-3 under Johnson.

Justin Shanks Commits To FSU (Tomahawk Nation)
Shanks is a 6'3" and 306 pounds grown man. He reportedly squats over 600 lbs and bench presses over 400 lbs. He's clearly a strong man, but he also shows good athleticism and good short area range. This is the third player from Alabama in this class.

The Countdown: No. 37 Clemson (Pre-Snap Read)
As of now, there are some issues to address. But I think Clemson will take a nice step forward off last season, potentially winning eight games in the regular season if the offense takes a solid step forward, as expected. Morris is too good a coach not to find Clemson at least rising into the middle of the pack in the A.C.C. on offense, and even if the defense takes a slight step back that should find the Tigers in second place in the Atlantic division.

Did Michael McAdoo's Plagiarism Force UNC to Fire Butch Davis? (Carolina March)
The first thing that comes to mind is the Michael McAdoo lawsuit, and the resulting evidence of plagiarism that came to light because of it. As part of McAdoo's effort to have his eligibility reinstated by the NCAA, his paper where he received impermissible help from a tutor that resulted in the honor court awarding a failing grade and semester suspension was submitted into evidence.
