The multi-week college football watch list parade is finally over. The final watch list released on Monday is for the Walter Camp Award, given annually to the nation's top college football player. Unlike the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp has been a bit more defensive player friendly. This year is no exception, with one-fourth of the 40 player Walter Camp watch list comprised of defensive backs, linebackers and defensive linemen.
BC's Luke Kuechly is one of those ten defensive players, and one of only three linebackers to be added to the Walter Camp Award watch list (joining TCU's Tank Carder and Arizona State's Vontaze Burfict as the other LBs).
Kuechly joins North Carolina's DE Quinton Coples, Virginia Tech's DB Jayron Hosley and Florida State's DT Brandon Jenkins as the other ACC representatives on the Walter Camp Award watch list. And who says the ACC is a defensive league?
To recap, the Eagles placed six players on various college football preseason watch lists. Kuechly was named to a team high six watch lists, including the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award, Butkus Award, Bednarik Award and now the Walter camp Football Foundation Player of the Year watch list. Seven if you include the inaugural Pony Express Award watch list.
Donnie Fletcher and Montel Harris were the only other Eagles to be named to multiple watch lists.
