On Friday, BC extended a scholarship to Chelmsford, Mass. LB/TE Tim Joy. It took him less than a day to make up his mind.
So on Saturday, Spaziani received his fourth verbal commitment for the Class of 2012, landing the local product.
The 6'2", 215 pound Joy had made official visits to Duke, N.C. State, Maryland, UConn and Syracuse, and had also received some interest from Nebraska, Miami (Fla.), Penn State and Ohio State. Though it sounds like BC was always his top choice.
"Yeah, I mean, growing up I always watched BC, and it was my dream to play there," Joy said this afternoon. "Then I went through a period of time where I thought I wanted to get away, not stay close to home. But then after I visited all the schools, and talked to everyone, I like the idea of staying close to home, near family and friends, nothing better than that."
The Eagles have a lot of depth at linebacker over the next few seasons, so the coaching staff has told Joy that he'll likely redshirt next season. No plans on whether Joy will play inside or outside linebacker.
Congratulations Tim and welcome to the Heights.
