The Boston College men's Rugby Football Club will compete in this weekend's 2011 USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship down in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Eagles have been placed in Pool B along with Notre Dame, Utah and Dartmouth. usasevenscci.com has been previewing each of the pools in advance of this weekend's rugby action.
Here's the preview of this year's BC side:
"BC has had more time than many of the CRC teams to prepare for the big 7s tournament. That certainly bodes well for their team chemistry; whether they can combine that with athleticism remains to be seen. Former USA flanker and Boston Irish Wolfhounds star Jason Lett has stepped in to coach the Boston College 7s players, and if a team is a reflection of its coach, BC will not stop playing full-out until the whistle goes. Lett also has some 7s-experienced players at his disposal. Stewart Harris has trained with OMBAC in San Diego, big Alex Brown has played 7s during the summer with White Plains, and both Ed Hynes and Andrew Wolf also have extensive experience with 7-aside. That will also help BC play a team 7s game, which they will need."
Be sure to read up on the other previews of BC's Pool B opponents, as well as the previews for:
- Pool A -- California, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State
- Pool C -- Army, Central Washington, Navy, North Carolina
- Pool D -- Arizona, Oklahoma, Temple, Texas
The event will be broadcast live on NBC this weekend between 4-6 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Tape-delayed coverage will be available on Versus throughout the weekend.
Go Eagles!
